I am a bunny fanatic & have had the pleasure & privilege of knowing & loving three very special rabbits. You can meet them below...

Name: Oscar Wilde McBunnington
Birthday: September 2015
Nicknames: Gob-Gob, Manses, Jebediah
Likes: Bananas, Parsley, Cuddles, Ignoring Willow, Giving Kisses, Playing in the Garden, Chewing Rugs
Dislikes: Not Receiving Kisses, Manicures, Taking Medicine, Being Told "No"

Oscar is our first bunny, we adopted him when he was 6 months old & it was love at first sight! We had just moved in with each other & had decided to get a bunny.
The moment we saw Oscar we knew he was the one, he had the most adorable little face, and his colouring made him look like he was wearing a little tuxedo, very dapper, very debonair! Thus we renamed him (his original name was Barry) Oscar Wilde.
He loved running around our almost empty flat, we got him before we had even aquired furniture, just two people in their early twenties, excited about starting this new chapter of our lives in our first home, with our sweet little rabbit, those early years were blissful & we often look back & reminisce.
Oscar has always had a cheeky personality, he is very vocal for a rabbit, grunting & voicing his displeasure (the place we adopted him from told us he was an unfriendly rabbit.... how utterly WRONG they were!!) He is the most affectionate rabbit we have ever met, he loves nothing more than running over & smushing his face underneath your hand, demanding a fuss.
He is also very intelligent, he learned many tricks, including "spin" where he will spin around in a circle, "kiss", where he will stand up on his hind legs & give you a peck on the lips, "jump" where he will jump over your arm & "limbo" where he will crawl underneath your arm.
He also learned how to open the door on his pen by rattling it in a certain way, we had to use a carabiner to keep him secure!

Unfortunatley, as Oscar got older he started experiencing some health issues, he has battled GI stasis three times which have all been absolutely awful, but he is such a strong lad he always fights & bounces back. Around 2022 he started losing weight & large amounts of his fur, we took him to the vet constantly, having different checks, tests & treatments. Until we met our wonderful vet "Dr Lucy", an exotic (rabbits are considered exotic pets lol) specialist with a personal love for rabbits. She worked so hard with us, conducting different tests, contacting previous colleagues & working to find out what was wrong with our sweet boy.
It turned out eventually that he has something called a thymoma, a small benign tumour on his thymus gland. We started him on steroids immediatley & he very soon began seeming more like himself... his fur was growing back & he was gaining weight again! The condition is chronic though, thymoma's can be removed surgically in other animals like cats & dogs, however it isn't something commonly done for bunnies, so our job was to now monitor him day & night, take him for checkups regularly & keep up with his medication regimen.
He still loses fur, however nomatter what he looks like, as long as he is happy, healthy, active & enjoying his life, that is all that matters & to us, he is still the most beautiful rabbit.

Name: Luna
Birthday: September 2016 Crossed the rainbow bridge in 2023
Nicknames: Boo-Boo, Princess, Lulu, Bug
Likes: Kissing Oscar, Binkying, Upsetting Mum & Dad, Potty Appointments
Dislikes: Being Cuddled Anywhere but the Potty

Our sweet princess Luna, almost cartoonishly cute, but don't let appearences fool you, this little rabbit stood on business & had a no-nonsense attitude! She absolutely ADORED her big brother, they were utterly inseperable, always cuddling & grooming each other. She was always Oscar's sidekick in shenanigans... Luna never learned to open the pen herself, but Oscar would swing the door open & she would join him for a midnight runaround whilst we were blissfully unaware in bed....
She had some funny little peculiarities, she loved having a cuddle with us, but would refuse to let us stroke her unless she was in her litter box, if we tried to touch her she'd walk away & lead us to the litter box, we would call these her "potty appointments"
We used to joke that she would live forever, she was so healthy & we never had to take her to vet for anything other than her spay surgery & yearly vaccinations. That all came crashing down in 2023 when we awoke one morning to find our princess had developed a head tilt & nystagmus....
We rushed her to the vet, they started her on ivermectin, believing that E-cuniculi was the likely culprit of her symptoms. So we gave her (& Oscar as a precaution) the medication as directed & continued taking her to the vet for checkups, however the treatment wasn't working & her symptoms were only getting worse.
Until eventually, one day in June.... her little body had no fight left to give.
Heartbreak would be an understatement, we were inconsolable, this had only happened over the course of a few weeks, our previously "bulletproof" little girl, who had never had anything wrong with her was suddenly gone, in such a traumatic way.
Not to discredit the hard work the vets we saw had put in, but this all happened just a few weeks before we found our current vet & sometimes we think "what if, what if, what if this happened just a little later & she could have been seen by Dr Lucy, would things be different? Would this brilliant vet have performed another miracle & would our girl still be with us?
It's still hard now these years later, there is a small white hole missing from our lives & I know for sure that Luna will never, ever be forgotten.

I don't believe in heaven.
But one day, in the infinity of time and space, my atoms will touch yours again.
They will burn in the heart of a star, as bright as my love for you.
Deep underground, over time and pressure, they will form diamonds, but no rock could be worth more than you.
I'll find you in a river, in an oak tree, in a meteor as it burns through the atmosphere.
We are bigger than these bodies.
Time is long, I'll find you again.

Name: Willow Azura
Birthday: October 2022
Nicknames: Winky, Lo-Lo, Princess the Second
Likes: Harassing Oscar, Eating, Causing a Hullabaloo
Dislikes: Having Nails Clipped, Being Picked Up, Being Ignored by Oscar, Being Combed

This chunky monkey came into our lives in 2023. Still sore from the loss of our Luna, we knew the best thing for Oscar was to meet a new friend, as rabbit's are incredibly social animals & do not do well alone.
Little did we know that this funny little girl would help us all heal. Her crazy antics, her dramatic zoomies & flops would help us smile & laugh again.
Willow, much like her older sister, is a very peculiar rabbit, she isn't as affectionate as her brother & is happiest running laps around the house, she is very cheeky & whatever she is not allowed to do, she will obsess until she has achieved said unallowed action (like going into the kitchen!)

She LOVES food & will do anything she can to get a treat into her little mouth, including climing up onto furniture to grab the bag of treats.....
She is obsessed with Oscar, but still doesn't really know how to act with him, she will demand kisses from him, flop next to him but if he turns to walk away she will nip & lunge at him! He loves her though, as much as he pretends not to, he likes to approach her to get her attention, then turn away when he has her attention, they love winding each other up! & it is always a treat to catch them quietly grooming each other.
After having Oscar & Luna for so many years, it was certainly a shock to the system having a young rabbit in the house again! We had almost forgotten how naughty they can be! Her antics never cease to make us laugh, she fit so perfectly into our family.

Thinking about getting rabbits? please do lots of research beforehand to find out if having a rabbit would be suitable for you! They are NOT "cheap & easy beginner" pets. They are complex animals with very specific needs & requirements.
They are also very expensive, the cost of housing them, feeding them & giving them the medical care they need can very easily rack into the thousands every year. They need a lot of space, a small hutch in the garden is not only insufficient, it is cruel.
